How long should your workout last?

6/23/2016

Your workouts should last no more than an hour, which includes warm up.  Research shows that your testosterone increases naturally once you begin working out and decreases after 45 minutes.  So lifting over 45 minutes will in effect produce less testosterone and more cortisol, which increases body fat storage, not our intent. So do yourself a favor and keep your workouts short and productive. Be strong.

Past MD LWC President passes

3/25/2016

It brings me no joy to tell the weightlifting community about the passing of Glenn Souders, our MD LWC President from 1980 - 1990.  I remember Glenn as the middle weight record holder in the snatch, the local meet promoter and all round nice guy. Glenn retired 12 years ago at the age of 53.  He would still workout with his training partner Mike Foley until Wednesday morning.  Each workout began on his stationary bike before working out. That was the last thing he did. RIP my friend.
